INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)

In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up- gradation of institutions of higher education, the NAAC proposes that every accredited institution establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous dynamic process, the IQAC will become a part of an institution's system and work towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of institutions.

The IQAC will make a significant and meaningful contribution in the post-accreditation phase of institutions. During the post-accreditation period, the IQAC will channelize the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence.

In this current era of education reforms of Government of India the IQAC of the College/University system has become an instrument for enhancing quality education in this country’s educational institution, after passing the acid test being prescribed by NAAC, i.e., fulfilling the laid down parameters of NAAC- an autonomous body of University Grant Commission. Therefore IQAC is a prerequisite for successful completion of NAAC exercise - An effort towards achieving educational excellence in an institution.

AIMS

  • Inculcate educational excellence in higher educational system.
  • Develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of institution.
  • Make significant and meaningful contribution in the post-accreditation phase.

OBJECTIVES­­­­­­­­

IQAC will facilitate / contribute

  • To generate an apex level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and facilitate internalization of the quality culture.
  • To create enhancement and integration among the various activities of the institution and institutionalize many good practices.
  • To provide a sound basis for decision making to improve institutional functioning.
  • To act as a dynamic system for quality changes in the College.
  • To improve internal communication.

STRATEGIES

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks.
  • Generating relevance and quality of academic and research programmes.
  • Creating equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society.
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning.
  • Enhancing the credibility of evaluation procedures.
  • Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and functioning of the support structure and services.
  • Research sharing and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.
  • Channelize the efforts and measures of institution towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance for academic excellence.

FUNCTIONS

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the College.
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive for quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
  • Arrangement for feedback responses from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes.
  • Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education.
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles.
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities, leading to quality improvement.
  • Acting as a nodal agency for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of good practices.
  • Development and maintenance of Institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
  • Confirming to the terms of UGC Regulations 2010, IQAC shall act as the Documentation and Record- Keeping cell.
