According to the World Health Organization, around the world, 1.8 billion women menstruate every month, yet at least 500 million of them-mostly in developing countries-lack the knowledge and means to manage their menstrual health safely and with dignity. The same study revealed that 71 percent of adolescent girls remain unaware of menstruation until their first menstrual cycle, affecting their health, confidence, and self-esteem.
NSS Unit of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies organized a session for the girls students of LPCPS so that they can get aware about the menstrual hygiene. The awareness session was given by Dr.Pratibha Sachan (MBBS, DGO Gynecologist and Infertility consultant CNS Groups of hospital). All the girl students got aware about menstrual hygiene and sanitary pads were also distributed among the girls.
The objective of the program was to enhance the knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene and increased the awareness among the female girls of LPCPS about menstrual hygiene.
