TRAFFIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN under the banner of National Road Safety Week

As part of the Traffic Awareness Week (17th January 2025 - 23rd January 2025), a Traffic Awareness Campaign was conducted on 21st January 2025 with the active participation of 50 students from Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies. The event was held under the guidance of their NSS Programme Coordinators, Dr. Ashish Kaushal and Mr. Chetan Khanna. The campaign aimed to educate and spread awareness about traffic rules and regulations while giving students practical exposure to traffic management.

Deployment of Teams

The students were divided into three teams and deployed at three different chaurahas (intersections):

  1. Kauathata Chauraha
  2. Indira Gandhi Prathithan Chauraha
  3. Amar Shaheed Path Chauraha

Each team was assigned specific responsibilities to assist in traffic control and to observe the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. The students had the opportunity to engage directly with commuters, informing them about road safety measures and the importance of following traffic rules.

Guidance by Traffic Police Personnel

To ensure an effective learning experience, the students worked under the supervision of experienced traffic police personnel. They received hands-on training in traffic management, which included:

  • Regulating vehicle movement to avoid congestion.
  • Assisting pedestrians in crossing roads safely.
  • Educating commuters about the significance of traffic signals and lane discipline.
  • Identifying and addressing minor traffic violations by spreading awareness rather than imposing penalties.

Impact of the Event

The initiative provided a unique and enriching experience for the students, allowing them to witness the challenges faced by traffic police on a daily basis. It also fostered a sense of responsibility among the participants regarding road safety. Additionally, many commuters appreciated the efforts of the students and showed enthusiasm in adhering to traffic regulations.

Conclusion

The Traffic Awareness Campaign on 21st January 2025 successfully instilled a deeper understanding of road safety among students and the general public.
