Awareness Campaign on Social Evils – Dowry System

On the inspiration of the Hon’ble Governor, an awareness campaign was organized to address the social evil of the dowry system. On 7th March 2025, a team of 21 students from the NSS Unit of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies visited two villages, Sallahimau and Dallookhera, located near the college. The students were accompanied by their Programme Coordinator, Dr. Ashish Kaushal, and Faculty Member, Mr. Neeraj Singh.

The primary aim of the visit was to raise awareness about the harmful impacts of the dowry system, which continues to be a prevalent issue in many parts of India. To effectively convey the message, the students used visual aids in the form of large A4-sized pictures that highlighted various aspects of the dowry system, including its social, emotional, and economic consequences. These images were strategically displayed to capture the attention of villagers and initiate meaningful conversations about the negative impacts of dowry.

The students engaged with the villagers, particularly the women and youth, encouraging them to reject dowry practices and promote gender equality. The campaign aimed not only to educate but also to empower the community to take action against this harmful tradition.

The initiative was well-received and contributed to spreading awareness about the importance of a dowry-free society.
