Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies (LPCPS), Gomti Nagar, organises an annual community outreach programme titled “Arpan” under its National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of LPCPS. The 2024 edition of the drive was organised on 23 December 2024 with the objective of supporting the underprivileged during the harsh winter season and inculcating social responsibility among students.
In this event, students voluntarily collect usable old clothes, sweaters, shawls, blankets and children’s garments from their homes and neighbourhood. These items are carefully sorted, packed and transported to identified distribution points. This year, the distribution was held near Hanuman Setu, Purana Haidarabad, Hasanganj, Lucknow, where a large number of needy individuals, including women, elderly persons and children, were present.
Along with clothes, packets of eatables such as biscuits, snacks and other food items were distributed from the college side to ensure that the beneficiaries received both warmth and nourishment. Faculty members, NSS Programme Officers and student volunteers worked in coordination to maintain discipline, dignity and orderly distribution.
“Arpan” not only brings relief to people living in difficult conditions but also sensitises students towards empathy, compassion and inclusive development. The NSS Unit of LPCPS plans to continue and expand this humanitarian initiative in the coming years.
